🇨🇦 Honouring Indigenous Veterans Day
On November 8, National Indigenous Veterans Day, we at South Vancouver Neighbourhood House honour the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people who served.
As an organization dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation, we acknowledge the sacrifice of the many Indigenous veterans who served under the flag of what is now Canada. Too many of them did not receive the respect and dignity they deserved, during their service and after it, for the freedoms that so many Canadians enjoy today.
We especially thank the veterans of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, on whose unceded territories we live, love and laugh. Their sacrifice is one we all owe a debt of gratitude for, every day.
