Children's Programs

Homework and Literacy Programs

Homework Havens is offered for children/youth who are looking for help with their studies or just need a place to do their homework.  Students receive assistance from trained SVNH staff and volunteers.  Program includes forty-five minutes of homework and forty-five minutes recreation time.  Snacks and drinks are also provided.

Reading Buddies is for Kindergarten and Grade 1 students who are matched up with a high school "buddy" with whom they participate in literacy games or activities with at least half an hour of direct reading time.


Dates

Programs typically start near the beginning of each school term.
Term 1:  October to December
Term 2:  January to March
Term 3:  April to June

Cook Elementary, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in partnership with Killarney Community Schools Team
